Morality and art. Have you ever really connected the two?
Art is a function in life that, essentially, supplements the morality in all of us. Morals are deep within us; it is innate. No matter what our life situations may be, we all have very similar morals and we generally could agree on what’s right and wrong, especially early on in life. However, art is the function that will differentiate us. Art is expressed through numerous mediums: paintings, literature, music, public speaking, etc. Art is the arena in which we have the opportunity to communicate ourselves creatively openly to the world. Through art, we express directly or indirectly our thoughts, visions, feelings, and emotions. We are able to delineate our individualism in hopes of influencing others to see and feel your points of view.
If society was to completely stop art production and reception, we would all become almost robotic. What would differentiate one from another? We would not have the ability to influence one another. We would lose the potential to feel and connect with the emotions of each other. Everyone would essentially become a plain white empty canvas. Well, this cannot be! We, as human beings, will never want to be just a plain white canvas. We all naturally yearn to colorfully draw on our own canvases while craving the influence of other life artists to throw in some of their strokes as well. We strive to be unique, different, and bold. We create our own individualism and definition of who we are and want to be.
Although our morals are innate, we still have to develop it and nourish it with the right formula. We have to ensure that it stays on track. By being artists in life, we further define and develop our morals. If we draw strokes of positivity, then our morals will reflect that. If we draw strokes of anger and negativity, then our morals will slowly transform to match it.
Think to yourself about your current morals. Have your actions as a life artist defined your morality in a positive or negative manner? The easiest way to tell is to ask if you’re happy. If you are, it looks like you’re on the right track. If you’re not, well, it’s time to re-create yourself.
As a life artist, you want to communicate to the world who you are and what you’re all about. Through your actions, you’re on display 24/7. Move towards the positive aspects of life and rid of the negatives. However, do not conform to anything you don’t want to, as you want to always keep your identity. Have some fun and see what positive craziness you can create on this giant art canvas we call life!
